This is the perfect route for travelers who have roughly one week and want to see the highlights of the Amalfi Coast.
If this is your first trip to Italy, or you’re just looking for a different type of trip, you might be more interested in our Classic Italy itinerary, which can also be combined with this itinerary for one epic trip.
What is the budget?
The accommodation, experiences, and activities recommended are for those with a mid-range budget.
We’ve done our best to keep costs reasonable.
We’ve included a handful of (optional-but-worthy) splurges, but have mostly stuck with mid-range prices.
What type of accommodation is recommended?
Each night of this itinerary has 2-3 accommodation options to choose from. We’ve included a mix of Airbnbs and hotels to give you options depending on your preferences.
Do I need a car to follow this itinerary?
Nope! We set up this itinerary based on taking public transportation around Italy.
That being said, if you prefer to have your own vehicle, you could absolutely follow our itinerary by self-driving.
How much physical activity does this itinerary require?
We’ve included the Path of the Gods hike on our Amalfi Coast itinerary—a moderately rated day hike with nearly 1,200 ft (365m) in elevation gain. Plus there is a decent amount of walking involved to explore the destinations on the Amalfi Coast.
That being said, we think anyone with a moderate level of fitness should be able to enjoy our Amalfi Coast itinerary, and you can always swap out the hike for another less strenuous activity if you’re not feeling up for it.
What time of year can I follow this itinerary?
We recommend following this itinerary in the warmer weather months to make the most of your time on the coast. Shoulder season months like May and September are ideal if you want to avoid the peak high season.
Keep in mind most of the Amalfi Coast shuts down and the ferries stop running from November – March.
