Detailed and easy to follow!
“This Norway itinerary looks amazing and easy to follow. We just finished using your itinerary for Scotland and it made for an epic family vacation, and seeing this one for Norway it seems just as incredible. All of the spots are carefully researched and it’s such a great mix of activities and choices. Only drawback is it makes want to be leave right now to explore all that Norway has to offer vs waiting.”
Well worth the money!
“I was hesitant to pay for an itinerary however I’ve found that [TWS itineraries are] well worth the $! It’s FAR more detailed that anything I could find free & has shaped the backbone of our trip. Thanks for all the info!”
It was such a vital part of our planning!
“After researching several travel blogs for [an itinerary], I purchased the TWS itinerary and use it as a guide to help [with planning]. It was such a vital part of our planning and was such an amazing thorough packet of not only recommended places but packing list, campervan rentals, food recs and so much great info and had everything we needed to plan our trip.“

Why trust our Norway advice?
Before our Norway adventure, we spent months researching the best routes—digging into must-see sights, off-the-beaten-path gems, and the logistics of traveling through this stunning (and surprisingly tricky-to-plan) country.
Then we spent 3 weeks exploring Norway ourselves—traveling both by campervan and rental car to cover as much ground as possible. We hiked to epic viewpoints, soaked in dreamy fjord scenery, tested scenic drives, ferries, and local eats, all to get a feel for how to pace each leg of the trip.
After we returned, we fine-tuned everything into what we think is the ultimate two-week Norway road trip itinerary: one that blends iconic highlights and hidden gems with just the right amount of adventure—without being exhausting.
This is the exact resource we wish we had when planning our trip. It’s been fully road-tested, family-approved (our toddler was along for the ride!), and crafted to help you make the most of your time in Norway.

FAQs
This is a perfect road trip route for anyone who has roughly 2 weeks to spend in Norway and wants to see the top sights as well as some little-known gems. This would make an amazing honeymoon or special trip.
This itinerary is for you if you:
- love scenic road trips and a sense of freedom
- want a mix of bucket list spots and off-the-beaten-path gems
- enjoy hiking, outdoor adventures, and jaw-dropping landscapes
- prefer traveling independently (not on a tour)
- like having flexibility, but also appreciate a well-thought-out plan
- are comfortable driving and sleeping in a campervan
- want to make the most of your time in Norway without the pressure of planning
The accommodation, experiences, and activities recommended are for those with a mid-range budget.
While Norway is very expensive, we’ve done our best to keep costs reasonable.
We’ve included a handful of (optional) worthy splurges, but have mostly stuck with mid-range prices. Traveling by campervan and cooking your own meals is a great way to keep costs down when exploring Norway.
Each night of this itinerary has our recommended campsite or freedom camping site that will accommodate a campervan. Some nights we include alternatives in case our first pick is full.
We recommend downloading and using the Park4Night app to find campsites all over Norway.
Not exactly, but it’s highly recommended.
You could do this itinerary in a rental car and choose to stay in hotels and airbnbs along the way. However, there are some remote areas we stayed in (on the itinerary) that you won’t be able to find other accommodation, so having a campervan (or being willing to tent camp – which requires extra equipment) would be ideal.
We’ve included a number of hikes and outdoor adventures, plus there is a decent amount of walking involved to explore the destinations around Norway.
That being said, we think anyone with a moderate level of fitness should be able to enjoy this itinerary, and you can always swap out of a hike for another less strenuous activity if you’re not feeling up for it.
We’d suggest following this Norway itinerary during the spring, summer or fall months (April – October). We went in September and had ideal weather for our trip.
We have suggestions for how to alter this itinerary whether you have more or less time.
We’re so confident you’ll love this itinerary that we’ve kept it incredibly affordable at just $27. With our track record of helping thousands of travelers plan unforgettable trips, we stand behind every page.
